Goldmine Grading Standard
The industry-standard scale for vinyl. Records get two grades — one for the media (the disc itself)
and one for the sleeve (the cover and inserts). They often differ. When in doubt, grade conservatively.
M Mint
Still factory sealed, never played, perfect in every way. The grade most sellers should avoid claiming.
NM Near Mint
Looks unplayed, plays perfectly. Sleeve has no marks, splits, ring wear, or writing. The realistic top grade.
VG+ Very Good Plus
Light surface marks visible under bright light, plays great with no audible noise. Sleeve may have very minor signs of handling. Default for most "played but cared for" records.
VG Very Good
Visible wear and marks, plays well with some light surface noise between tracks. Sleeve shows handling wear, light ring wear, or seam fraying.
G+ Good Plus
Well-worn but plays through with audible surface noise throughout. Sleeve may have splits, writing, or significant wear.
G Good
Heavy wear, noticeable surface noise, possible light skips. Sleeve significantly damaged. Sells only for rare/scarce titles.
F Fair
Significant noise, may skip. Sleeve heavily damaged. For completists chasing rare pressings only.
P Poor
Barely plays. Severe damage, warps, or skips throughout. Essentially decorative.
